CMS Vibration Solutions - Noise and Vibration Control, Ballast Mats and Floating Concrete Trackbed Systems

Operating exclusively in the anti-vibration and structural isolation marketplace, CMS Vibration Solutions offers expert advice and an unrivalled product range for tackling noise and vibration by isolation of machinery, systems and structures.

Whether noise and vibration affect railway perimeters, neighbouring buildings or the tracks themselves, CMS Vibrations will identify, supply and install the most appropriate and cost-effective solution. CMS Vibrations works closely with acoustic consultants, engineers and key specifiers to formulate bespoke solutions for all railway applications.

Constructed of environmentally friendly materials, Regupol (polyurethane-bound rubber granulate) and Regufoam (polyurethane mixed-cell structure foam) deliver anti-vibration and structural isolation systems that are both high-performing and environmentally sound.

FOUNDATION OR STRUCTURAL ISOLATION

Repeated exposure to ground-borne noise and vibrations can have a damaging impact on building support structures. The same forces also lead to interior noise and vibration issues within neighbouring buildings. These disturbances are prevalent around railway lines. It is thus necessary to isolate the structures surrounding railways to reduce noise and vibration transfer.

As some areas naturally require greater isolation than others, the Regupol RAV range offers a variety of grades, developed to meet the user's specific needs. Whether the demand is natural frequency, compression, damping ratio, creep or a combination of these, there is a quality solution to suit your requirements.

Highly adaptable, Regupol products have a long lifespan and material can be formed to suit the exact application type. The complete RAV range has been independently tested for dynamic response and behaviour, with emphasis on long-term creep, to ensure that the material can maintain performance against environmental changes.

Applications include:

  • Foundation isolation
  • Column heads
  • Pile cap
  • Perimeter isolations
  • Floating floor systems

GROUND-BORNE OR TRACK BED VIBRATION

In railway applications, ground-borne noise and vibrations are generated from the movement of rolling stock. In most cases, the area is treated in order to achieve the most effective isolation. Available in six different grades, Regufoam can accommodate a wide range of track bed requirements including light rails, subways, main lines and tramways.

Designed to actively isolate rail structures, Regufoam delivers a number of performance benefits. Once installed, it enables greater slab-track elasticity and effectively reduces load on the ballast. Furthermore, it limits the effects of wheel and track interaction, which reduces corrugation of the contact surfaces.

Developed to withstand the test of time, Regufoam maintains technical capabilities throughout its lifespan. This not only ensures calmer, quieter and more comfortable travel for rail users, it also provides a cost-effective solution for rail companies.

Applications include:

  • Ballast mats
  • Track support systems
  • Rail pads
  • Elastic resilient pads
  • Mass spring systems
  • Base plate pads

NOISE AND VIBRATION AT BRIDGES AND TUNNELS

To ensure that neighbouring structures are not adversely affected, railway bridges and tunnels must be treated for noise and vibration problems. Both Regupol and Regufoam are suitable solutions for these scenarios, as the materials can be applied vertically.

Where railway tunnels are adjoined to building foundations, there is a risk of sound transmission from rolling stock. This not only threatens the foundation structure, it also poses a risk of disturbing occupants in adjacent buildings. As such, measures should be taken to reduce the transfer of noise and vibrations, which can be achieved with the installation of an appropriate grade of Regupol or Regufoam.
