Siemens Transportation Systems - Innovative Electric and Diesel-Electric Locomotives

Siemens Transportation Systems is one of the leading international single-source suppliers of innovative and sustainable rail solutions for mass transit, regional and main line services. We provide signaling and control systems, traction power supplies and rolling stock as well as turnkey systems and forward-looking service concepts.

LOCOMOTIVES FROM SIEMENS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

From the world's first electric locomotive to the present peak of technological development, Siemens Transportation Systems has placed many successful locomotives on the track. In 1897, Werner von Siemens presented the world's first electric locomotive at the Berlin Industrial Exhibition.

Since then, Siemens technology has been a guarantee for reliable and state-of-the-art locomotives all over the world.

HEAVY FREIGHT LOCOMOTIVES TO PASSENGER LOCOMOTIVES

The Eurosprinter family has been setting standards in the electric locomotive segment since 1993. The versatile vehicle concept encompasses not only heavy freight locomotives but also those needed for fast passenger service. With the latest newcomers to the family, the innovative four-system European locomotives, we are making a solid contribution to the opening of the European rail network.

With the diesel-electric Eurorunner platform, we provide our customers with highly modern locomotives that are economically efficient, reliable and environment-friendly and suitable for a wide variety of transport applications – from powerful freight units to passenger locomotives.

The Asiarunner platform was specially developed for the many special features of the markets in Asia, Africa, South America and Australia. Powered by a diesel-electric traction system, the locomotive is characterised by its highly flexible concept and remarkable the economic efficiency, which accommodates a large number of structure clearance gauges and the required low axle loads.

We can supply complete vehicles or components for locomotives and control electronics for rail vehicles.

REFURBISHMENT OF LOCOMOTIVES

Refurbished locomotives create more business opportunities because they reduce maintenance effort and increase reliability, efficiency and performance. The results are increased availability and, consequently, greater carrying capacity - in other words, as good as brand-new locomotives.
