ALUMINUM COAL WAGONS AND COAL HOPPER WAGONS

FreightCar America is the world’s leading manufacturer of aluminum coal wagons. The BethGon® II is a recent advancement of superior coal wagon design. Continuous improvement has made the BethGon II, with its patented twin-tub design, the most recognized coal gondola in the industry.

FreightCar America's AutoFlood III™ is an aluminum coal hopper wagon with maximum unloading efficiency. The high volume AutoFlood III, with its MegaFlo® automatic discharge system, can also be equipped for rotary dumping. The MegaFlo system features smooth slope sheets, and an innovative discharge system with 44in door openings. The doors close with tension rather than compression, requiring no periodic adjustments and little maintenance.

FreightCar America’s aluminum coal wagons are successfully serving utilities and mines across North America and in South America. They are lighter in weight with higher capacity, and feature patented top chords with integral dumper clamp reinforcements and patented, one-piece, cold-rolled center sills.

ALUMINUM AUTO-CARRIER MULTILEVEL RAILCAR

The newest addition to the North American fleet of multilevel vehicle carriers is FreightCar America's Aluminum Vehicle Carrier (AVC) wagon. The AVC is a true advancement in railroad industry practice for auto transportation. It has a 50-year interchange life and runs transparently in the National Reload Pool.

The AVC wagon has these features:

DOUBLE-STACK WAGON

FreightCar America's double-stack wagon has wells 40ft in length, and accommodates 20ft or 40ft containers in the bottom, and 40ft, 45ft or 48ft containers in the top position. These wagons are available in stand-alone and multi-unit articulated versions.

CUBE COVERED HOPPER WAGONS

Dense, dry materials such as cement, roofing granules or fly ash are ideally shipped in FreightCar America's small, covered hopper wagons. Strength and durability come from FreightCar America's patented cold-rolled center sill and cast draft arms.

The twin hopper design meets industry standards for gate centers and above-rail clearance for gravity outlet gates. Extensive engineering design effort and manufacturing experience went into its two-piece, rolled roof with no stiffeners, requiring less welding and reduced possibility for cracks or leaks. FreightCar America small cube hopper wagons are offered in a variety of configurations, including three, four or five hatches.
