Strukton Railinfra Wins Nomination In Prorail Prize Contest

06 December 2006 10:25

Utrecht, 6 December 2006 - After last year's success, the infra manager of the Dutch railway network has organised another prize contest for 2006. The assignment: how to get more travellers on regional lines against lower cost.

The prize winners of the first phase, the idea phase, were made known during a ceremony on 4th December 2006. An expert jury selected six ideas from the 59 ideas submitted.

One of the winning ideas, 'Compact and decisive', was submitted by Strukton Railinfra. This idea was selected as the best of the contributions that focus on management. The jury was charmed by the proposal to optimally tune regional transport, management and maintenance to one another in a compact and decisive organisation.

Bert Klerk, member of the ProRail executive board and member of the jury, stated during the ceremony that in working out its proposal Strukton Railinfra will be given limiting conditions and that the jury wishes the proposal to be worked out within the current rules and legislation.

The prize winners of the idea phase will be given an amount of €20,000 to further work out their idea into a detailed and elaborate proposal. An independent jury will judge the proposals in early 2007. The best solution will be awarded with an amount of at least €100,000 to test or apply the solution in practice.
