Stockholm, November 2006 - Strukton Railinfra has been awarded the €35 million contract to construct the northern part of the Bothnia Line in Sweden. The Bothnia Line (Botniabanan in Swedish) is the railway line along the Gulf of Bothnia in the east of the country. Strukton Railinfra will lay approximately 95km of single track between Örnsköldsvik and Umea in a period of three years. Work on the project is to start in May 2007. Strukton Railinfra is currently making the preparations.

The railway line will be used mainly for goods with a maximum load of 25t, but will also be made suitable for passenger transport at 250km/hr. During the tendering phase, the client in Sweden (the Botniabanan project organization) visited the Betuweroute to find out how Strukton Railinfra approaches similar projects.

Strukton Railinfra, as a full-service provider, provides safe and reliable rail systems in Europe. Strukton has established a strong position in Sweden and has offices in Stockholm and Alvsbyn.
