LPG - Industrial Fire Extinguishing Systems and Total Flooding Systems

Since 1985, LPG Técnicas en Extinción de Incendios, S.A. has been researching, designing, manufacturing and supplying a wide range of industrial fire extinguishing systems to protect life and property. Among LPG's most important products are the total flooding systems based on gaseous extinguishing agents such as FE-13™, NAFS125, CO2, INERTS (LPG ARGOGEN, IG-55, IG-100), HFC 227ea and also water mist (AQUAFOG) systems. LPG is certified under ISO 9002 (LPCB).

All of LPG's systems and components are designed and developed according to the most stringent international standards (ISO 14520, NFPA 2001, UNE 23570).

LPG holds certification from the highest independent accrediting entities such as VdS (Germany), LPCB (England), CNPP (France), VNIIPO (Russia) and APCI (Cuba), UL (USA). Using duly approved software for the calculation of hydraulic networks is essential for the correct application of the systems developed by LPG.

CO2 EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM AND AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER INSTALLATION - BANGKOK MASS SYSTEM PUBLIC TRANSIT

Scope of supply: project management, engineering, equipment and materials supply, installation and maintenance, start up, manuals and training.

Technical data: the protected facilities include 23 train stations distributed along a Y-shaped railway line: two branch lines converging into a central station and a main line coming to a depot for trains and wagons. The fire protection comprises all the 23 stations, tunnels, depot and administration building.

The installation includes gaseous extinguishing systems (CO2), automatic sprinkler systems and hose reels.

H20 AND NITROGEN CYLINDER SUPPLY - BILBAO UNDERGROUND, SPAIN

Scope of supply: equipment and materials supplied consisting of nine centralized systems of three cylinders of H2O and one of nitrogen, nozzles, directional valves and spare parts.

Technical data: the protected facilities include 24 mechanical escalators of nine train stations.

LPG AQUAFOG: WATER MIST SYSTEM

The LPG AQUAFOG fire suppression system is formed either by independent systems - comprising a basic set of cylinders - or by dependent systems - formed by combinations of basic sets of cylinders. Depending on the number of required cylinders, either an independent system or a dependent system is used.

A basic set comprises 50l cylinders with a discharge valve containing water at atmospheric pressure, nitrogen cylinder/s pressurised at 200bar with an opening valve and release system. The set is completed with pressure switch, pressure gauge, manifold, discharge hoses, non-return valves, strainer and bracket.

Systems are designed to be actuated through manual/electric release or manual/pneumatic release. The system ensures that once one of the nitrogen cylinders is actuated the remaining nitrogen cylinders in the system will actuate, automatically pressurising the water cylinders.

AQUAFOG operates at working pressures from 200bar to 50bar producing very tiny droplets. Nozzle heads are designed to discharge water as a fine mist (SMD≈ 50 microns). These tiny droplets create a large surface of heat absorption permitting an efficient cooling of the fire and surrounding area. The high velocity of the droplets allows the mist to penetrate into the hot gases to reach the combustion surface. AQUAFOG systems are designed according to NFPA 750 Standard.

LPG has developed specific applications for AQUAFOG water mist system such as the protection of mechanical escalators. This application is focused to protect running tracks, base of the tunnel area and machinery areas giving an excellent fire extinction performance and providing safe conditions for evacuation (limits temperature, limits smoke level and doesn't reduces oxygen level). Water mist design overcomes volume integrity problem that is usually a problem for gaseous agents. This application has been successfully awarded the VDS System Approval.
