Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions is an experienced specialist consulting practice which specialises in fire safety, fire protection, fire engineering and fire protection system design. FIRE SAFETY SYSTEMS DESIGN AND INSTALLATION

Fire Safety Systems is a generic term used to describe installations that provide or increase fire safety, and can be of an active, or passive design. Engineered Fire & Safety engineers have backgrounds in fire fighting, fire protection design, emergency planning, emergency response, human response in fire, fire protection system design, fire system installation, hazard identification and management and many other facets of fire safety systems.

FIRE SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

With the increased requirement for building owners to provide certificates to attest that servicing has been carried out regularly and fire systems are functional, problems can occur in attaining certificates. Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions can provide specifications for the tendering of servicing and maintenance contracts. Our engineers inspect your property and assess the systems installed. After assessment, a specification is written for your system’s levels of servicing and requirements for certification.

FIRE SYSTEM UPGRADING

The NSW environmental planning and assessment act provides an avenue for the building fire safety features to be upgraded to a level that is more appropriate to presently expected levels. Whilst the legislation requires upgrading, the specific levels are not explicit. This loophole allows the interpretation, or misinterpretation, of upgrading to encompass many strategies, including some unsafe strategies.

Ad hoc unsupported upgrading solutions, by non-accredited practitioners, may not stand building owners or local government council in good stead in a coronal inquiry. Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions can provide NSW accredited, fully-qualified, experienced fire safety engineers and a fully supported fire safety upgrading inspection and reporting service to ensure that the upgrading of existing buildings is undertaken in a professional and proper manner.

The formalising of the identification of hazards and risk assessment is fast becoming a requirement for the every day operation of business. A LONG HISTORY WITH THE NEW SOUTH WALES RAILWAY SYSTEM

Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions has been involved in the railway system in New South Wales, Australia for approximately 12 years, and has been involved with many different aspects of the system and its fire safety. A few of our many accomplishments with the New South Wales (NSW) rail system include:

• Project manager for the development of Standard Guidelines for Fire & Life Safety (SGFLS) – NSW underground railway system
• Fire safety upgrade works determination for 12 major Sydney Underground railway stations
• Railway tunnel fire fighting water needs analysis
• Developed and tested a 0.5MW to 20MW heat output smokeless railway tunnel test fire rig
• Developed a numerically based Fire Safety Evaluation System (FSES) for underground railway stations to allow an easily understandable method of assessing fire safety levels
• Undertook full FSES assessments of all Sydney underground stations
• Undertook the development of an alternative solution for fire safety and early detection of fire in rolling stock at the NSW Rail Transport Museum
