Steelrod specialises in the construction of components for railway track and signal engineering. The company was founded in 1974 by Doug Veneris whom, with his sons Shawn and Damian, worked hard to make Steelrod the respected company it is today. Sadly, Doug passed away in 2007 but his sons continue to follow their father's example and produce quality products for Steelrod's customers.

Since 1974, Steelrod has expanded into one of the most important suppliers to rail authorities throughout Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. The company is renowned and admired throughout the rail industry for its qualities, particularly excellent service, on-time delivery and high-quality products.

Points rodding, chair plates and permanent-way components

Steelrod ensures its components are high quality by constructing them to all relevant specifications and Australian standards. In Australia, we are recognized as a leading manufacturer of points rodding and ancillary equipment; this includes chair plates and permanent-way components.

Customised signal posts, ladders and level crossing posts

We can produce a range of rail signalling components to customers' individual requirements, using clients' drawings and specifications. Signal posts, ladders and level crossing posts - as well as all associated parts - are amongst those available. In addition, overhead gantries and cantilevers can not only be made to customer specifications, but can also have their installation arranged.

Computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining capabilities

Steelrod completed second-stage expansion in 1996. The company possesses complete computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining capabilities and these are used to produce quality components for railway track and signalling plus numerous other applications.

To ensure it remains ahead of other companies in this field, Steelrod's manufacturing capabilities and equipment including bar feeders and a robotic welding facility are to the highest standard. Steelrod continues to add modern CNC machining centres and CNC lathes to its already well equipped factories.

These facilities ensure that your track and signalling equipment, including points rodding, is always constructed to the highest standards and meets or exceeds customers' individual designs and specifications. Amongst our capabilities are drilling, counter-sinking and tapping of wear plates and lip plates in materials up to Bisalloy 500, to a maximum thickness of 100mm.

Robotic welding facility

Steelrod's robotic welding facility has a successful track record in guaranteeing consistent high quality and accuracy in repetition welding.

Structural MIG and TIG welding

Steelrod's excellent facilities can be utilised for structural MIG and TIG welding on all track and signal equipment. Galvanising, zinc plating, tin plating, powder coating, two-part epoxy and conventional 'wet' spray protective finishes are amongst the customised finishes that customers can order to suit necessary requirements.

ISO standard 9001 certification

Steelrod has achieved quality assurance to ISO standard 9001, and is proud of its record in always utilising the most high-quality and modern products. This includes the utilisation of robotic welders to ensure our railway track and signalling components are consistently excellent.
