The new Paris tram is equipped with Saft nickel-cadmium batteries optimised for reduced maintenance. The new T3 tram, part of the CITADIS range from Alstom, was put into service by the RATP and the city of Paris in December 2006.
Among the Alstom tramways with highest passenger capacity, the T3 tram will be able to carry more than 100 000 passengers per day between the Pont du Garigliano and the Porte d'Ivry via the Boulevard des Maréchaux.
All 21 carriages of the Paris tram are equipped with Saft 19 MRX 260 batteries in integrated trays. The batteries are used to back up the emergency lighting, ventilation and passenger communication and emergency braking systems.
The MRX model is equipped with a centralised water filling system which saves time and reduces maintenance costs.
