Powertron Converters

Pure Sine Wave Inverter for Rail

05 October 2006 15:41

Powertron proudly announced the launch of its 750W range of inverters for rail applications last week at Innotrans. This exhibition is held in Berlin and is the largest rail technology show of its kind in the world.

The ACR 750 has been designed specifically for use on-board rolling stock and it meets all the latest rail norms - EN 50155 and EN 50121-3-2 as well as the more traditional BRB RIA specifications for rail.

The inputs are a nominal 24Vdc, 36Vdc, 52Vdc, 74Vdc and 110Vdc, and have been designed to be connected directly to the train auxiliary supply. The inverters incorporate the very latest surge and transient filtering circuits to ensure the trains stringent protection and EMC regulations are met. The output is a true sine wave of 230Vac at 50Hz. These solid state devices offer efficiencies of up to 93% and are housed in a very rugged IP65 enclosure to ensure compliance with vibration and shock requirements.

Additional features on the ACR 750 include auto-recovery short circuit protection, over-load protection with LED indictor, auto-recovery thermal protection and LED status indicators to show that input and output are present.

Powertron Converters specialises in DC-DC converters and DC-AC inverters for use on-board rail vehicles. Standard products cover the power range 5W to 2kW.
