Founded in 1974, the Powerbox Group has an extensive experience in developing, manufacturing, marketing and sales of power supply solutions to demanding applications. Powerbox regard themselves as a global power supply with a local presence.

The group has a global presence based upon the headquarters in Sweden and from its subsidiaries in 16 countries covering Europe, the US, Asia and Australia. The product offering includes a wide range of standard power supplies as well as extensive capabilities in offering customized power solutions.

Development is made at Powerbox's global research and development centers and the manufacturing takes place at one of several world-class contract manufacturing partners. The development center and the factory location are selected depending on each product’s characteristics, assuring both quality and a cost-effective offering to our customers.

At Powerbox, we adopt a flexible approach, customizing logistics to meet our customer’s demands and specific requirements. This has the capacity to cover all types of supply structures from traditional fixed order and delivery to schedule agreements and vendor managed inventory services. AUTOMOTIVE POWER SUPPLIES

We recognise that tough environmental and high quality standards are significant for the railway applications. A power supply will be exposed to very tough environmental conditions both in terms of temperature and humidity as well as shock and vibration. At the same time, the users expect very high reliability.

Typical characteristics of automotive power supplies include tough environmental requirements, extreme reliability, a variety of voltages, both AC and DC depending on application and geography and a long lifetime (typical 15 – 20 years).

POWER CONVERTERS FOR TRAIN APPLICATIONS

The Powerbox range of power converters for train applications ranges from a few watts to kilowatts. The converters are normally DC/DC to provide suitable voltages from the DC system voltages (24VDC or 110VDC) to the application voltage, normally ranging from 12VDC to 48VDC.

Today DC/AC converters are requested more and more frequently to generate a mains voltage (115VDC or 230VDC) from DC system voltages for applications as power in passenger seats to power standard equipment in the bistro.

The applications covered are

• Drivers cabin (to power displays, communication systems etc.)
