Throughout the design and the manufacturing process, quality control and environmental concerns are under the continuous control of specialist Powerbox engineers. AUTOMOTIVE POWER SUPPLIESWe recognise that tough environmental and high quality standards are significant for the railway applications. A power supply will be exposed to very tough environmental conditions both in terms of temperature and humidity as well as shock and vibration. At the same time, the users expect very high reliability. Typical characteristics of automotive power supplies include tough environmental requirements, extreme reliability, a variety of voltages, both AC and DC depending on application and geography and a long lifetime (typical 15 – 20 years). POWER CONVERTERS FOR TRAIN APPLICATIONSThe Powerbox range of power converters for train applications ranges from a few watts to kilowatts. The converters are normally DC/DC to provide suitable voltages from the DC system voltages (24VDC or 110VDC) to the application voltage, normally ranging from 12VDC to 48VDC. Today DC/AC converters are requested more and more frequently to generate a mains voltage (115VDC or 230VDC) from DC system voltages for applications as power in passenger seats to power standard equipment in the bistro. The applications covered are
