MEDCOM is set to deliver converters for more than 500 new electric multiple unit (EMU) cars for an intercity line around Sydney.
We are performing our company’s historic first contract in Australia in cooperation with the RailConnect NSW consortium, responsible for the design, manufacturing, and delivery of the cars.
Cars equipped with our converters will replace old units transporting passengers from Sydney to Central Coast, Newcastle, Blue Mountains, and South Coast. The first ones will be delivered by RailConnect NSW by 2019, and the remaining ones, gradually, by 2022.
Currently, MEDCOM is performing over a dozen contracts in various continents, including Africa and North America. MEDCOM’s complete drive units will be used in 28 modern EMUs manufactured for Tunisian railways, and our converters will be mounted in modernised trams in Alexandria, Egypt.
Our static converters will also be installed in trams in Calgary, Canada, and Seattle, US, as well as the metro in Mexico City.
We are also working with CRRC, the largest Chinese manufacturer of rolling stock, for whom we are manufacturing complete drive units, converters, and control systems for the metro.
