AT-SEAT POWER SUPPLIES

With an ever increasing demand for in coach power, Turbo Power Systems' PT3000 is rapidly becoming the industry standard for passenger power supplies. Major rail operators throughout the UK have already installed over 800 units.

As well as enabling passengers to charge and operate their lap top computers and mobile phones at their seats, the PT3000 can also be used for in-car entertainment systems. The units can be placed behind the seat or under the floor and operate from the trains battery system, producing 3kW of power with a wide range of output and input voltages available.

CATERING CAR POWER SUPPLIES

Turbo Power Systems' 5kW auxiliary power unit is designed to provide the power requirements for modern day catering car equipment such as:

• Microwave ovens
• Refrigeration cabinets
• Coffee making facilities
• Electronic point of sale (EPOS) equipment

The unregulated, fixed or variable alternator derived power supplies are converted to the necessary 240V / 230V AC supplies. The converters comprise of the latest high efficiency IGBT technology and offer 5kW output power in a small under floor-mounted enclosure.

AIR CONDITIONING POWER SUPPLIES

Turbo Power Systems' air-conditioning power units operate by taking the variable track power supply and converting it into a suitable output to produce high quality stabilised power for the train's air conditioning system.

The converter is fully protected against voltage surges on the input lines and the three-phase power output is protected against over loads, short circuits and earth faults.

The converter has been designed and extensively type tested to provide consistent performance and reliability in the most arduous of mechanical and electrical environments, as well as complying with all safety and EMC standards.

STATIC CONVERTERS AND LVPS

Turbo Power Systems has supplied a number of different vehicle mounted and trackside mounted static power converters for a wide range of applications:

• DC-AC and AC-AC power supplies for powering 'on car' heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and brake compressor systems
• DC-DC and AC-DC power supplies for battery charging and control equipment
• General auxiliary power supply combinations with dual redundancy and output paralleling options

All the products can be designed and manufactured to a wide range of power requirements up to 500kW and are fully supported by advanced control and monitoring systems.

DIESEL MULTIPLE UNIT POWER SUPPLIES

Vehicle mounted power platforms are available to provide stable AC and DC supplies directly from the main propulsion diesel engine. The platforms consist of an auxiliary power unit, alternator and auxiliaries mounted on a raft assembly for mounting under the car. A three-phase output is produced which varies in voltage and frequency as the engine speed changes. This can be used for:

• Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems
• General auxiliary supplies
• Battery charging and control equipment
• Diesel engine cooling supplies (variable)

Low voltage power supplies are available to provide a stable DC output voltage and to charge back-up batteries. Multiple units can be operated in parallel to achieve higher current output or provide redundancy of operation.
