HBL Power Systems was established in 1977 and has become one of world's leading designers, developers and manufacturers of specialised batteries. The company is a leading solutions provider and its specialist batteries include nickel, lead and silver zinc chemistries. The batteries provide backup power for critical applications in the railway, aviation, telecom and defence industries. HBL is IRIS certified and supplies these products to railway customers across the world.
HBL batteries work effectively in railway applications, including engine start, on-board auxiliary power, railway signalling, and emergency communication equipment and door control and traction substations.
It offers the world's widest range of technologies.
HBL offers nickel cadmium sintered plate pasted negative batteries for rail applications. These are available in PPFR, stainless steel and polysulphone containers of single cell types and block battery types and with integrated water topping system. These batteries are classified into three types KRM, KRX and KRH. These batteries conform to IEC 60623, UIC 854 R, BS 6260, IEC 600771, and NFF 64018.
HBL offers a wide range of nickel cadmium pocket plate batteries to match diverse applications and operating conditions. These are available in tough polypropylene containers of single cell types and block battery types. Cells of stainless-steel containers or structural foam-molded containers are also available.
Incorporating variations in electrode design to meet different discharge requirements, HBL batteries are classified into three types L, M and H. These batteries conform to IEC 60623 and are certified by Intertek ETL SEMKO. They also conform to BS6260, DIN 40771 and other international standards.
HBL's fibre plate (FNC) batteries have a three-dimensional fibre structure in the plate to provide a very high conducting density. The advantages of this technology include:
The ni-cad fibre plate batteries are designed as L, M, H and X types to suit customer requirements. These batteries conform to IEC 60623 and are certified by Intertek ETL SEMKO. They also conform to BS6260, DIN 40771 and other international standards.
HBL offers hybrid technology fibre plastic-bonded batteries. These batteries combine the positive plate of FNC with the negative of SPB to make a hybrid that can take advantage of both technologies.
Where required, HBL batteries are offered with auto filling and crates or boxes.
HBL designs, manufactures and services a wide range of lead acid batteries for railway applications.
HBL batteries are manufactured to meet applicable international railway and engineering standards, such as IRIS, IEC60123 and IEC60896. The facilities also comply with international quality standards 9001, 14001 and 18001.
HBL is a successful supplier to railway OEM manufacturers, including Bombardier (Europe and the US), Alstom, CAF, Rotem, Stadler and CSR.
HBL's success is backed by its worldwide distributor and service support network. HBL operates 100% owned subsidiaries in the US and Europe to ensure local presence and support for railway customers.
HBL offers railway clients the opportunity to have customised power supplies, control modules and other sensitive electronic equipment built cost-effectively. HBL offers two services:
HBL operates its own design department, tool making and PCB manufacturing and precision components departments to service railway contracts of this type.
