Electrotechnical Institute
The electric traction department is a part of the Electrotechnical Institute and was founded in 1946. The Electrotechnical Institute also runs its own R&D department, which works in several fields of traction.
We design and manufacture equipment for new production and refurbishment of traction vehicles.	Products currently being studied by our R&D team include a new type of high power traction drive (propulsion), onboard static / auxiliary converters, stray current analysis and cathodic corrosion protection.

Europoles

The reflective signal film applied to these barrier poles causes incident light to be narrowly focussed and reflected without glare.

Lamifil
In 1999 Lamifil started supplying catenary wires for the Thalys and Eurostar high-speed lines connecting Brussels to several main European cities.	Our first delivery for the French high-speed network was in 2001; today we are one of SNCF's main suppliers for copper and copper magnesium catenary wires used for all travelling speeds.	Depending on the type of lines (heavy traffic, normal operation, high-speed lines, etc) different sections or different alloys can be supplied.
Deliveries of copper-magnesium catenary wires for Spanish high-speed lines have included contact wires for the high-speed lines connecting Cordoba to Malaga, Lleida to Barcelona, Madrid to Segovia and Figueras to Perpignan.	For each type of railway line, Lamifil can offer the right solution.

PB Design
PB Design's range of rail battery chargers includes thyristor-based charger systems.	Our portable chargers for rail applications are available in voltages from 24V to 110V.	We have supplied battery charger systems to many of the UK's rail infrastructure projects over the last 29 years.
We are UVDB registered and have both Link-up and Verify certification.	PB Design's 19in rack-based charger system on a switch-mode rack.

Polyamp
Polyamp has supplied switch mode DC/DC Converters to railway operators since 1973.	The applications in train low voltage supply include auxiliary voltage for the GTO drive line, low voltage distribution such as battery chargers, 13.6V, 24V or 48V distribution, comfort voltage for passengers and equipment supply. Power-One
Power-One provides board-mounted converters meeting the requirements of EN50155 and EN50121-3-2.	Cassette style AC-DC and DC-DC converters for 19in and chassis mounting in harsh and rugged power applications.	From custom to auxiliary power, Power-One has the capability to design a power supply to suit the application.

Powertron Converters

REO Inductive Components
REO design and manufacture railway components, including filters, chokes, transformers and braking resistors.	REO's single-phase and high-current mains filters include EMC filters, line chokes and sinus filters. REO's high-quality rail load banks and high-voltage power supplies for test engineering can be built to customers' exact requirements.	REO's state-of-the-art water-cooled braking resistors can be used with both low and high-power frequency converters.

Saft
Saft is the world’s leading supplier in the Nickel-Cadmium segment, with major footholds in all segments, providing batteries to more than 150 railway networks and mass transit systems throughout the world.	Batteries play a key role in all contemporary rail and mass transit systems, whether these are diesel, electric or hybrid, intercity or urban, conventional or high speed. They are required to perform a number of functions, of which the most important are engine starting and the provision of emergency power.	In tunnels, fire and smoke are especially hazardous, and stringent precautions are taken to ensure that batteries do not propagate fire or emit smoke or toxic fumes. Total reliability of the back-up of the low voltage is crucial for all mass transit systems.
Batteries are installed on conventional train passenger coaches to provide a reliable in the case of the main power supply failure. They may come into operation not only for emergency purposes, but also whenever the train is at a standstill while the engine is still running.

Schaffler and Associates
Our range of rail DC-DC converters can buck (reduce voltage) or boost (increase voltage).	The Dcformer rail DC-DC converter is a high-frequency, high-power switch-mode power supply in a small package.	Our rail three-phase inverters are used to convert DC to produce three-phase AC power.
The Schaffler Activerter is an active rail front-end inverter that converts incoming AC to DC.	Schaffler battery chargers are suitable for use on passenger and freight rolling stock.

Schaltbau
Rail control and indicating devices from Schaltbau can be found worldwide in thousands of locomotives and passenger coaches; whether in new suburban trains for Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) in Munich, or subway motor cars in New York, Schaltbau master controllers do their duty reliably and durably.	Many Schaltbau products carry on with their jobs completely unnoticed, but the emergency brake handle must not be overlooked, which is why it is red and has an appealing design; in 1998, it was the Design Award Winner at the Hanover fair.	The UIC connectors with rugged design have increased resistance to chemical influences; in the picture you can see the UIC 558 series.
The CVB25 (circuit vacuum breaker) is an AC vacuum switch for electric locomotives and electric multiple-unit (EMU) trains.	Schaltbau's CT1000 railway contactor combines the advantages of electromagnetic and permanent magnetic blowing for arc guidance.

Sensys Traffic

Tech Power Electronics
Line transformers' bandwidths and magnetic saturation eliminate differential mode disturbance generated by accidental contact of the transmission line with the power line.	50Hz single-frequency line transformers are used on alarm circuits at derivation points and in amplification units. In a 'pupinised' line attenuation is virtually constant for a frequency bandwidth wider when the inductive load is lower.
