Flexlink Engineers - Railway Power ConvertersFlexlink Engineers railway power supplies are designed to meet rail-specific standards including EN50121-3-2 and EN50155. They are mechanically rugged for reliable operation under very harsh field conditions, with additional protection to ensure immunity to shock, vibration, dust, moisture, humidity, salt, chemicals, oil and fog. These units operate in ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to +80°C and humidity up to 95%, and are typically conduction or convection cooled. Flexlink Engineers power supplies feature high efficiency, low EMI (output noise) and full protection against surges and transients. For thermal protection, the product will shut off when safe operating temperature has exceeded. CUSTOMISED RAILWAY DC-DC CONVERTER FOR RAILWAY APPICATIONSThe Flexlink DC-DC converter is a cost effective, medium powered single output converter that complies fully with the latest rail specific standards and norms for protection and EMC. Although simple in construction, the mounting arrangement ensures compliance with vibration and shock requirements of EN 50155. RAILWAY POWER CONVERSION SOLUTIONSFlexlink Engineers can provide any input / output and mechanical configuration, with output power ranging from a few watts to 900W. Working from several hundred field-proven designs, our engineering team develops solutions to the most demanding customer requirements, while keeping design costs low and lead-times short. POWER CONVERTERS FOR NEW BUILD AND REFURBISHMENTRecent major projects include:
The success that we have demonstrated in winning these projects highlights the acknowledged benefits and improved reliability that our products provide to the rail vehicle manufacturers and operators. RAILWAY 110V DC ELECTRONIC BALLAST/ FLORESCENT INVERTERThe 110V DC electronic ballast is a cost effective product that complies fully with the latest rail specifications and norms for protection against deactivated, rectifying and EOL bad lamps. ELECTRONIC BALLAST DESIGNED TO MEET RAILWAY STANDARDFlexlink Engineers railway ballast uses T8-36W florescent lamps which enable them to operate at least 10,000hrs of switching cycles. They are mechanically rugged for reliable operation under very harsh field conditions, with additional protection to ensure immunity to vibration and dew drop moisture. These units operate in ambient temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C and also limit system power to 3.5W under protection mode. Flexlink Engineers railway ballast features high efficiency and full protection against deactivated, rectifying and EOL mode bad lamps. TAIL LIGHTS FOR ROLLING STOCKTraditionally, tail lights use incandescent light bulbs. With wide spread usage of LEDs for signalling and illuminating, rolling stock tail lights are changing to LEDs. The MTBF for incandescent light bulbs is around 1,000hrs. LED lights can provide an TBF of more than 100,000hrs, an obvious advantage in maintenance cost savings. SERIES MOTOR TEST STANDThe series motor test stand provides a variable speed control for a series connected DC motor for no load testing. It consists of:
MULTI-PURPOSE MOTOR TEST STANDThe multi-purpose motor test stand is a movable trolley mounted test stand which caters for:
It is connected via a wall socket power supply which has a control circuit that is operating at 24V DC. The main incoming is protected by a 20A pole circuit breaker. SALOON/CAB AIR-CON TEST STANDThis equipment is used to carry out maintenance for rolling stock equipped with Siemens' saloon and cab air-conditioning condenser/evaporator units. It is equipped with a 'Stone Brand' condenser supplier board.
