Europoles - Catenary Poles for Urban Transit and Mainline Rail Traffic

For both urban commuter rail systems, as well as high-speed rail traffic, Europoles delivers pole solutions for catenary systems on mainline rail systems and for mass rapid transit.

From planning to implementation, Europoles provides catenary-support systems that help make rail traffic attractive and cost-effective. With the latest in know-how, long years of experience and proven reliability, Europoles offers convincing solutions with innovative quality products.

Quality management at Europoles satisfies the stipulations in DIN EN ISO 9001:2000, with regular verification by external audits. Catenary poles are manufactured in accordance with the latest in European and international standards. Europoles has also obtained official approval for these products from European railway operators.

Catenary support systems

For expansion of existing rail lines, and for construction of new lines in mainline traffic, support systems for catenary power supplies must satisfy special requirements. In order not to impair the functionality of the catenary lines by the powerful air flow of passing trains, Europoles – in conjunction with Deutsche Bahn – has developed a modular pole system especially designed for new and extended rail lines, as well as for high-speed train traffic.

At speeds of around 330km/h, passing trains create an enormous suction effect. The so-called C-pole spun-concrete system – produced by Europoles in centrifugal processes – demonstrates minimal static and dynamic deformation as a result of its great stiffness characteristics. This prevents oscillation of the catenary lines after a train passes.

These poles, which require practically no maintenance, save space and can be quickly installed by outside rammed-pipe foundation methods. Expensive foundation work is not necessary.

Catenary poles for urban mass transit

In addition to standard poles, Europoles also offers steel or concrete catenary poles that satisfy the customer’s individual requirements – from exceptional forms and surfaces, to combinations with street lighting.

Barrier poles

For level crossings and other security facilities, Europoles also manufactures round and rectangular cross-section barrier poles from fibreglass-reinforced plastic, in accordance with the regulations of Deutsche Bahn. As required, the poles can be provided with weather-resistant, highly reflective signal film.

The materials used for these barriers, greatly compressed as a result of the production process, are highly resistant to weather and corrosion, difficult to ignite, and demonstrate great mechanical and dynamic strengths. The barrier poles made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic require no maintenance.

One-stop shop for all mounting systems

From planning to implementation, Europoles offers all services required for the infrastructure facilities that you need. Beginning with consulting on structural-engineering tasks, including production and delivery, and extending to foundations and installation: Europoles offers you everything you require on a one-stop basis.

On an international level, Europoles collaborates with competent partners locally, in order to optimally coordinate the execution of projects in accordance with relevant country-specific stipulations and guidelines.
