ALSTOM wins €80 million order for CORADIA LINT Regional Trains in Denmark

12 June 2002 14:41

Angel Trains Ltd has placed an order with ALSTOM for 30 2-car CORADIA LINT™ regional trains, which it will lease to ARRIVA Tog AS for use in Denmark for the Arriva Jutland Franchise. The contract also includes an option for five additional trains and spare parts, and has a total value of approximately €80 million.

The state-of-the-art diesel multiple unit trains (DMUs) will constitute a new fleet for ARRIVA Tog, the first private rail concession in Denmark. Angel Trains Ltd, a long-standing ALSTOM customer in the UK, where it is one of the leading leasing companies, has already acted as supplier of ARRIVA Train Ltd. UK, financing more than half of its train fleet.

The new train was presented today at ARRIVA Tog’s headquarters in Silkeborg, Denmark. ARRIVA Denmark managing director Johnny Hansen said, 'ALSTOM made the overall best offer in the competition. The company’s technical solutions, the impressive quality, the willingness of ALSTOM to suit our requirements and the rapid delivery times were determining factors for our decision.'

ALSTOM Transport president Michel Moreau said, 'We are delighted to be involved in Denmark’s first private franchise and are confident that Danish passengers will be as comfortable and happy with the new ARRIVA fleet of regional trains as they already are with the ALSTOM-built S-TOG trains, which have been in successful service in Denmark for some time now.'

The service-proven trains which ALSTOM will supply are currently in use by several operators in Germany and Holland. Each train for ARRIVA will be built to carry up to 121 passengers at a top speed of 120 km/hour.

These new regional trains will be produced in ALSTOM’s unit in Salzgitter (Germany). First delivery is scheduled for June 2004 and will continue at a rate of six trains per month until October 2004.

With more than 35 product lines and a presence in over 60 countries, ALSTOM Transport offers cutting-edge products and services to four distinct types of customers: urban transit authorities and operators; intercity passenger rail operators and rolling stock owners; rail freight operators; and intercity railway infrastructure owners. ALSTOM Transport, with 4.4 billion euros in sales in 2001, is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the railway supply industry.
