Alpha Elektrotechnik - Middle and High Voltage Traction Systems and Accessories

Alpha Elektrotechnik develops, produces and distributes disconnectors for middle and high voltage applications and related accessories. With its long experience, gained over 75 years of activity, Alpha Elektrotechnik expanded into the development and production of cable systems for traction in 1999. Alpha Elektrotechnik has been ISO 9001 certified since 1995.

MEDIUM VOLTAGE TRACTION SYSTEMS

To be in direct line within a sector in full expansion, Alpha Elektrotechnik began the development and production of medium voltage systems in railway electric distribution (traction), from 3kV to 25kV. The jumper, a cable equipped with quick-coupling connectors, ensures distribution of energy between motor coaches and cars, in particular on pendular and high-speed trains. Alpha Elektrotechnik masters one of the principal difficulties, which consists in reconciling flexibility and resistance in order to make it possible for the cable to support millions of torsion movements, resonance and extreme climatic conditions.

TRAIN SPECIFIC TRACTION SOLUTIONS

For Alpha Elektrotechnik, the concept of flexibility also means gaining solutions specific to each type of train:

• High-speed and pendular trains: ETR 500-3kV, ETR 500-plt, Pendolino 470 and 480, Cisalpino, ICN, Pendoluso and Talgo
• Engines and motor coaches: goods trains (China), locomotive OSE E and EP10E, polycurrent engine New Jersey, double engine Kiruna and Talgo 350
• Other trains: Nina, Öresund Link, CP 2000, ERL Malaysia, Desiro OSE and Desiro UK

Concerning traction, the production schedule of Alpha Elektrotechnik includes products in 3kVDC and 25kVAC (quick coupling connectors, cable jumpers, complete jumper assemblies, roof cables and terminations). These can be delivered separately or as a complete turnkey solution (tested on site).

RAILWAY ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION R&D

It is in the field of the railway electric distribution that Alpha Elektrotechnik concentrates the essence of its efforts within R&D. It collaborates regularly with active partners in similar spheres of activity with the focus on reducing development costs.

MIDDLE AND HIGH VOLTAGE DISCONNECTORS

In the field of disconnectors, Alpha Elektrotechnik specialises in the middle and high voltage range (24kV to 550kV). Its production schedule includes products intended for exterior as well as interior usage.

Because it satisfies particular customer applications, the disconnector is an important component. Between dimensional constraints and climatic conditions, the Alpha Elektrotechnik disconnectors have certain characteristics that differentiate them from others. Alpha disconnectors' intrinsic qualities (due to the particular materials used) enable them to function in the long term under extreme conditions such as in sand and at icy temperatures.

This added value does not penalise the cost / performance report. Insulator, current carrying parts, drive, and pantograph - all the components provide their function in a unit which, like them, shows ambivalence - resistant and durable, sensitive and vital.

DISCONNECTOR DIVERSIFICATION

Along side development and production, Alpha Elektrotechnik also ensures the resumption, modification, maintenance and renewal of old disconnectors. The emergence of new techniques represents a pointed field of diversification, which is only possible after 75 years of experience.
