The DCR 150R is a recent addition to ABSOPULSE Electronics’ line of rugged, railway-quality DC-DC converters. It meets the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock.

The converter also has an input voltage surge withstand capability of 385Vdc for >1min (3.5Vn for 20m/sec minimum), comfortably meeting RIA 12. With heavy filtering on the input and output, the unit also complies with EN50121-3-2 and EN55022 Class B conducted noise and radiated emissions.

This railway-grade converter has a wide operating input range of 66-154Vdc (110V nominal) and delivers 150W at 24V ± 0.2V/6A. Custom input/output values are available on request. Regulation is better than 1% from no load to full load across all line and load conditions. Efficiency is a minimum of 85% at full load at 24Vdc output.

Electronic protection includes 3kVdc input to output isolation, inrush current limiting and reverse polarity protection, current limiting, overload, overvoltage and short circuit protection.

Cooling by natural convection and by baseplate to a heat-sinking surface ensures operation within a -20°C to +55°C temperature range without de-rating.

The heavily ruggedized converter is housed in a 114mm x 51mm x 201mm compact, robust vented chassis.
