NEW DIN 6700 PRECISION WELDING DEPARTMENT
Crucial for existing German railway contracts, Merc's new DIN 6700 welding department is now officially up and running, with a core business supplying the major players in mass transit with emergency door system components for metro infrastructures worldwide. The DIN 6700 standard is notoriously stringent and its award demonstrates Merc's drive and commitment to growth and diversification.
Applied in conjunction with ISO 9001:2000 and EN729-2, the standard gives Merc the leading edge in the rail industry supply chain as we are the UK's only subcontractor with this award. Our welders are qualified to work in a diverse range of material specifications and dimensions as documented in our Weld Procedure Sheets (WPS). Furthermore Merc have retained the services of a certified European Welding Engineer to supervise the control of safety-critical components requiring high levels of release.

Utilising high quality Lorch V welders, with high frequency ignition, water-cooled torches and databased digital controls, client quality requirements are met every single time. Prior to manufacture, a contract review is carried out and weld planning sheets and procedures are drawn up.
The procedures allow for distortion, joint preparation and stress relief and ensure that repeatable quality is reproduced every single time. Significant procedures such as these are necessary in order to satisfy the OEMs that their product will not fail in service.
