KV Mobile Systems produces pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems, sub-systems and rail-approved components for numerous applications within the rail industry including door control, pantograph operation, toilet systems, ancillary air supply, horn control and wiper control.

EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL DOOR CONTROL

Train doors are frequently the cause of significant time delays to schedules and they often feature in the top three fault-related systems. Pneumatics specialist KV has designed and manufactured a special pneumatic module to overcome these delays.

Extensive tests have been conducted that prove that the new door control system, which includes newly designed nosing rubbers and an anti-rattle device, reduces door-related impact minutes by an average of 70%.

PNEUMATIC DOOR CONTROL SYSTEM

The new pneumatic module is fitted to each doorway and includes a local door regulator, solenoid valves and a speed controller and, as well as aiding individual door set-up, each module incorporates quick-release fittings to all ports for ease of maintenance and a test point for pressure setting.

The pneumatic locking mechanism that is fitted as part of this system addresses safety issues while also being a major factor in reducing impact minutes, as it prevents passengers pulling the doors apart, breaking the interlock and bringing the train to a halt.

Door control systems are a particular speciality of KV and this has led to the development of improved systems to provide solutions for customers worldwide. We can now provide door control systems for single-leaf, double-leaf, bi-parting, outswing and folding doors.

TOILET SYSTEMS

With sanitary waste stored within onboard retention tanks and then transferred via vacuum, KV toilet systems often incorporate additional functions such as self-priming, self-cleaning and the need to handle detergents.

By integrating the control of air / vacuum and water into a single module, the KV toilet module optimises space and provides a weight saving. Ease of installation and maintenance is provided by simple, quick connectors and multi-core plugs.

PANTOGRAPH SYSTEMS

Recognising the variety of configurations that suit locomotives or multiple-unit trains, including high-speed single units, KV designs and manufactures modular control systems that incorporate pressure sensors, electro-pneumatic control valves, pneumatic cylinders and precision air regulators to deliver reliability and durability.

AUXILIARY AIR SUPPLY UNITS

KV produces modular auxiliary air supply units, tailormade to customer applications, for control of numerous functions on a train including horn, wipers and vacuum toilets.

RAIL-APPROVED COMPONENTS

KV’s range of rail-approved components includes electro-pneumatic control valves, rodded and rodless cylinders, and a wide selection of access and egress devices, including inter-lock capability, for both passengers and the driver.

RAPID PROTOTYPE DIVISION

KV Mobile Systems has its own rapid prototype division, using the latest computer technology and a choice of SLS, SLA, vacuum casting and Z-Corp modelling. We provide customers with the opportunity to translate 3D CAD drawings into physical models, in materials ranging from moulded to stainless steel.
