New Finance and Commercial Manager for Siemens' Transportation Systems' Rail Communication Team

Gary Lowndes has been appointed as finance and commercial manager in the newly formed Siemens Transportation Systems' (STS) rail communications team. Gary, 39, has worked for Siemens for ten years and in recent months has been working on the integration of the Transmitton business into Siemens plc.

Gary comments: "I am working with an excellent team and thoroughly enjoying my new role. Helping to facilitate the integration of the two companies is a challenging but rewarding task. This is a very exciting time to be working for the company and the future is looking very promising indeed."

Gary works in Ashby, where the UK headquarters for STS are now based and where it has established the UK centre of excellence for the rail communications business. This business incorporates the central functions of STS with successful 120-strong Transmitton team at Ashby and STS's Poole-based mobile communications, GSM-R cab radio business of around 80 employees. STS has a sales and marketing base at its Westminster offices for its rolling stock sales, infrastructure business and special projects teams.

With 900 employees working across the UK, STS has grown to become a key player in the UK rail industry, delivering a range of rail-based products and services from rail infrastructure technologies and solutions in signalling, electrification and telecommunications, to complete turnkey packages developing new rail technologies from concept to implementation. STS also provides and maintains rolling stock for six train operating companies.
