Transmitton to Distribute OTN for UK Rail Sector

Leading supplier of control and asset management solutions Transmitton has been appointed as UK distributor for OTN (Open Transport Network) by Brussels-based Siemens N.V and will now be offering OTN to the UK rail market.
OTN is an affordable transmission 'highway' that uses fibre optic technology. It offers reliable and secure transmission over wider bandwidths and geographical distances and in one 'intelligent' system can carry many different types of data, voice and video communications.
In a rail environment where systems need flexibility to allow for expansion and modernisation, OTN provides a single, integrated network that can easily accommodate hardware and protocols for both new and legacy equipment and it has an almost unlimited capacity for adding new video and Ethernet communications. OTN has been used in many highly-dispersed rail environments such as light rail and metro applications - including Manchester Metro, Glasgow Underground Railway, Heathrow Express Rail Link, Tyne and Wear Metro and Docklands Light Railway.
