Premier supplier of integrated control and asset management solutions to the rail industry, Transmitton, is updating motorised switches in South West Scotland for Network Rail under a £100,000 sub-contract with First Engineering Ltd.
Existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control equipment, originally supplied by Transmitton, is to be modified trackside and in the electrical control room at Cathcart by September 2005. Primary remote locations at Lochwinnoch and Kilwinning, which have existing Transmitton Remote Terminal Units (RTU's) installed, will be used to transfer the controls to the new MS146 point-to-point systems.
Transmitton will also be changing the SCADA design for the control of motorised operated switches from Yoker CSMD and Westerton. The control of these switches will be moved from Jordanhill to another Transmitton site at Dalmuir Park and, because of this, the existing SCADA master station at Cathcart will be modified and commissioned.
Transmitton account manager John Weston said, "We were involved in the original design and supply of the SCADA and welcome the opportunity offered by First Engineering to replace and enhance the control equipment motorised switches."
Transmitton continues to strengthen its position in the UK, winning the Enterprise Through Innovation award and Business of the Year in the recent 2005 Leicestershire Business Awards.
