Qnamic Development Team Beats Key Milestones, Providing Customers with the Ability to Untap Greater Efficiencies with RailOpt – the Intelligent Resource Management Software Solution for Railways

Qnamic, developer of Intelligent Resource Management software solutions for the railway industry, today announced that it had made significant steps in the delivery of RailOpt 2.0. Progress against the customer driven development roadmap had surpassed expectations and will allow a full General Availability version by Q3 2005. Customers will benefit from enhanced user interfaces, more effective enterprise wide production and planning tools, and improved MIS (Management Information Systems) and controlling functionality.

With a keen focus on user friendliness, RailOpt 2.0 will allow users to experience a familiar look and feel based on their Windows-, UNIX-or Mac-environments. The solution will also facilitate improved communication between all relevant departments in the planning of pertinent resources and will help provide “real-time” data to aid more effective controlling.

”We have focused on an improved user interface, enhanced deployment and scalability, increased performance and better modularity for simplified customer implementation," confirmed Tai Truong, Head of the RailOpt Development Team. ”The team has grown significantly over the last 18 months with talented new heads in both product development and testing."

Using RailOpt, customers have been able to automate significant components of their tendering and resource planning processes. Not only has RailOpt reduced overheads by reducing manual administration, but because RailOpt can undertake planning scenarios of great complexity to deeper levels of granularity than manual methods, resources can be managed for greater operational effectiveness. When once-simple functional effectiveness was sought, like driver, rolling stock or workshop utilisation in isolation, with RailOpt, customers now undertake complex holistic planning, maximising resource effectiveness from a total operations view. In addition, the solution can be implemented across National borders ensuring compliance with local employment regulations.

“We aim to stay ahead of the rest of the industry by optimally supporting the planning activities and ongoing operations of modern railway companies,” said Claudia Schmid, CTO of Qnamic. “By automating critical business processes across the entire tendering, planning and operations cycle, RailOpt empowers railways to operate more efficiently and take more informed control, that they may become more dynamic in a market of increasing change.”

The full RailOpt software suite, consisting of modules for tendering, service planning, workshop planning, staff rostering, rolling-stock scheduling, short term planning, dispatching, clearing and information management. Qnamic will be demonstrating the solution at transport / logistic 2005 at the new Munich Trade Fair Centre from 31 May to 3 June 2005. Hall: B4 Stand: 632.
