Another Railway Company to Implement RailOpt, Qnamic’s Intelligent Resource Management Software Solution for Railways
Qnamic, developer of Intelligent Resource Management software solutions for the railway industry, today announced a contract for its RailOpt® software solution with railway operator - Südostbahn AG (SOB).
RailOpt will enable SOB to automate critical business processes across its entire tendering, planning and operations cycle. This will support effective tender responses, enable SOB to better synchronise production resources engaged in the running of trains and improve financial control.
SOB will implement the RailOpt tendering module first. Expected to go live during April 2005, SOB expects to reduce tender response times by up to 75%. Not only will the module reduce administration costs, but SOB will be able to respond to tender requests more quickly, more accurately and in greater detail than can be realistically supported by current manual processes.
RailOpt planning modules, expected to go live later in 2005, will help SOB to create optimised plans for the use of resources such as drivers, rolling stock and workshops in the daily production of trains. The additional modules will help orchestrate deployment of resources across the entire operation. Competing products to RailOpt tend to be aligned to a single resource group, such as driver rostering or locomotive planning, and unable to aid holistic optimisation.
“Only Qnamic could provide a solution that met our end-to-end planning and production needs,” said Heinrich Güttinger, Head of Production, SOB.
He continued: “RailOpt will allow us to improve resource utilisation and seek efficiencies in our tendering process.”
RailOpt’s operations modules will enable precise clearing. This will support fast and accurate invoicing, improving cash-flow and delivering accurate cost centre data. Accurate cost centre information means Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) can be trusted in decision-making processes and allow a more refined approach to business management.
Dr Guido Schoch, CEO of SOB sees significant strategic value in implementing RailOpt. He said: “RailOpt will bring much needed transparency to our planning and production process allowing us to seek significant enhancements in productivity and customer service.”
SOB will implement the full RailOpt software suite, consisting of modules for tendering, service planning, workshop planning, staff rostering, rolling-stock scheduling, short-term planning, dispatching and clearing and information management. Qnamic’s professional services group will provide guidance on best practice as well as product configuration support.
