As stand-alone units or in CompactPCI® format, MEN’s industrial ethernet switches are easily customisable low-power platforms for harsh environments. They come with an extended firmware package to fulfill all requirements of a highly demanding application. The management firmware enables individual configuration of all ports via command line interface, SNMP (version 3) and through an HTTP web server.

MEN Mikro Elektronik offers rugged ethernet switches as stand-alone or CompactPCI® devices. All managed versions are equipped with a fully featured software package to professionally manage even complex network infrastructures, including Layer-2 switching functionalities such as VLANs, QoS, LLDP and link aggregation. Dynamic reconfiguration scenarios are managed by protocols like IGMP snooping and filtering, RSTP and DHCP.

In lab environments, the firmware can be configured by a comfortable command line environment with full access to all configuration options and status information, while SNMP offers full management access in deployed operation, including traps on exceptional conditions.

The switch configuration data can be stored on an external storage key, which can remain at the device location to allow fool-proof switch replacement without any interaction with the device.

To ensure safe operation, the firmware fully supports all hardware monitoring appliances, such as for temperature, voltages or load on the PoE enabled network ports.

The ethernet switches are available in different formats, making them suitable for many applications. All of them are fully compliant with the EN 50155 railway standard, are designed for operating temperatures from -40°C to +70°C (up to +85°C for ten minutes) and need no cooling (fanless operation). The PCBs are ready for coating (in some cases conformally coated by default) and there are no socketed components, hardening the product against shock and vibration. All types of switches are also available as unmanaged models.
