LOCOMOTE 100 LOCOMOTIVE RADIO REMOTE-CONTROL

Locomote 100 is Åkerströms' new radio remote-control product for locomotives; it enables switchyard personnel to operate locomotives simply by using a joystick. The increased efficiency derived from using the Locomote 100 results in a very fast return on investment.

The Locomote 100 system comes with a transmitter, receiver and charger. It is available in a standard model, or it can be tailored to enable customer-specific functions.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER PAIRING

The Locomote 100 has an automatic pairing function that enables operators to use any transmitter with any receiver and to change a corresponding transmitter and receiver instantaneously.

The function simplifies handling in several applications. For example, in one application, each operator can have a personal transmitter for controlling all locomotives; in another, just one common transmitter is used. This solution is therefore reliable, because users need not depend on one specific transmitter.

EASY-CARRY REMOTE CONTROL

The Locomote 100 has a slim, ergonomic design that improves operators' working environments. The transmitter is used with a new comfortable carrier belt, which lets operators select positions that best suit their bodies and the tasks they're working with.

REMOTE-CONTROLLED SHUNTING

Using the Locomote 100, operators can start, run, and stop the locomotive and thus have total control of the train's movements. Thanks to the Locomote 100, shunting is safer and more efficient compared to manual shunting that demands two persons.

The Locomote 100 minimises the risk of musculoskeletal injuries (drivers need not climb up and down from the cabin), the risk of accidents (such as being pinned), and the risk of slipping (on wet or greasy surfaces).

Switching freight cars in a switchyard is risky, and misunderstandings can occur between switchers, shunting inspectors and locomotive drivers. Remote control significantly increases safety because the same person driving the locomotive does the switching.

Remote control streamlines work in the switchyards and makes the operators' workplace much safer. One of the Locomote's unique functions is the tilt switch on the transmitter, which automatically stops the locomotive if the operator happens to stumble.

LOCOMOTIVE TOWER CONTROL TRANSMITTER MODULE

Åkerströms' tower control is a transmitter module specially designed for installation in switching towers or similar locations. The operator can easily switch over to tower control so the locomotive is instead controlled from the switching tower.

CENELEC EN 50239 CERTIFICATION

The Locomote 100 is approved according to Cenelec EN 50239, which is a standard of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation relating to remote control used for railway applications.
