Gimota AG was founded in 1961 by Otto Schoch and is situated near Zurich, Switzerland. From the very beginning, the company has specialized in supplying connectors for the use in railway vehicles.
These are for example CIRCULAR CONNECTORS or DATA CONNECTORS. Future in-house developments concentrate on the same field of activities, particularly with regard to connectors for high-current and data transmission circuits for example the GIMOTA TRAC- Series, and EMC shielded connectors.
Gimota connectors are used worldwide in various railway vehicles for practically all occurring applications. For example: analogue and digital data, signal transmissions, high current feedings and measuring probes of all kinds.
Gimota connectors are also used in stationary systems for various applications, for instance: for conventional and electronic control systems.
CIRCULAR CONNECTORS
All Gimota circular connectors comply with MIL-C-5015 and VG9595 standards and are available in various housing types:Bayonet coupling for indoor and outdoor applications, or the threaded coupling, preferably used for indoor applications.
Outdoor connectors, when plugged together, comply with protection class IP67 according to DIN 40050. Connectors designed for indoor use comply with protection class IP44 according to DIN 40050. All connectors are available in versions up to 105 poles. 360-degree EMC screening is also possible. All connectors are available either as sets, or as individual components.
NEW POWER LINE SERIES
The Power Line series of connectors is used for three phase power distribution. They are easy and fast to assemble. The shells are molded with flame retardant thermoplastic material. The secondary locking feature prevents unintentional uncoupling. They are also resistant against fuel, lube- and insulating oil. They feature a male contact with metal louvered band for low insertion force and multiple points of contact. Dead front contacts prevent accidental touching of current carrying parts. Contact termination is either crimp, double set screws or threaded posts.
SUB-D DATA CONNECTORS
TRAC-series SUB-D connectors have been specially developed for transportation control systems. All TRAC connectors feature robust cast zinc housings which, together with the cable retainers, provide 360° EMC screening. Connectors may be coded where required. They comply with protection class IP44 according to DIN 40050 and are approved only for indoor applications. All connectors may be ordered either as individual components or sets of parts.
Basically, there are two types of contact housing:
TRAC F ELECTRONIC CONNECTORS
The TRAC F connector was also developed with the railway operators' special needs in mind. This EN6063-2 (DIN41612) connector mates up to 48 conductors with PCB-mounted sockets, while using the same cable retainer and screen connector found in the SUB-D series. The connector housing type F, DM or H can be inserted in the TRAC F covers.
A zinc cast shell provides an optimal EMC screening. The two-part housing allows up to six cable connections. This connector can also be coded using a coding plate.
The converted is equivalent to the following standards:
ENGINEERING
We are flexible: we can develop and manufacture connectors for specialised applications according to customer specifications - promptly, and in small batches if required.
LOGISTICS AND QUALITY
We are flexible: we work with customers to devise an appropriate logistics solution, for example "just-in-time" deliveries based on an umbrella contract and demand forecasts, or maintaining minimum inventory levels specified by the customer. We have an unequivocal, no-compromise quality policy.
TOOLS
For all our connectors we can provide the necessary tool kits, providing for individual manufacture as well as for series production.
