Siemens offers sustainable, 'complete mobility' solutions for various transportation systems in order to transport people and goods with greater efficiency, safety and environmental friendliness. Siemens is the only company worldwide that incorporates all necessary competencies for complete mobility – from operating systems for railways and road traffic, to traction power supplies and rolling stock for mass transit, regional and mainline services, to airport logistics and postal automation. Bogies for all passenger rolling stock Forming the connection between the car body and the tracks, the bogie plays an important role in safety and comfort. The Siemens plant in Graz, one of the largest producers of bogies in the world, offers a wide range of products for all types of passenger rolling stock. Our range of bogies includes universal bogies, driven bogies and non-driven bogies. We can provide bogies for use in the following applications:
Bogies for electric locomotivesThe SF 1 bogie was developed for use in electric high-performance locomotives with a maximum speed of 230km/h. This universal bogie can be used for express passenger and goods transportation on high-speed European routes, and on alpine routes with many curves. The SF 2 bogie was designed for locomotives with 6.4MW motors and speeds up to 140km/h. This bogie can be used in goods and passenger operations. The functional and compact design is based on proven components that were used for the bogies of the BR 152 locomotives of the German railways. Bogies for passenger coachesThe SF 300 bogie was designed for passenger coaches with a speed of up to 200km/h (tested to 330km/h) and a maximum axle load of 16t. It has been the standard bogie for this purpose for the Austrian Railways since 1989. The SF 400 was developed for locomotive-drawn passenger coaches in shuttle service at operating speeds up to 280km/h. This universal bogie is used on intermediate and control cars, on single and double-decker cars, and for mass transit and mainline railways. Driven and non-driven bogies for high-speed trainsThe driven and non-driven SF 500 bogies are a further development of the SF 400. Over 950 of these bogies for high-speed trains are being used in the German railways, ICE 2. They were developed for use on electric trains and modern high-speed coaches at speeds up to 330km/h and they offer excellent passenger comforts. The SF500 is the standard bogie for the ICE 3, which is in use for German and Dutch railways. It is also in service for Velaro China and Velaro Spain, adapted for broad gauge for the Velaro RUS. Bogies with tilting system for tilting vehiclesThe SF 600 was developed as a comfort bogie for coaches with active tilting technology for speeds up to 250km/h and free lateral acceleration up to 2m/s. It is based on proven components from the SF 500 and SF 400 bogies. These units combine high speed with high curve-speeds and excellent passenger comfort. Over 160 are in use on the German railways' VT 605 tilting train. Bogies for diesel multiple units SF 4000 driven and non-driven bogies were developed to meet the requirements of modern regional trains. These bogies are designed for speeds of up to 120km/h and a maximum axle load of 15t. Typical applications for the SF 4000 include the VT642 series of the German railways. SF 5000 driven and non-driven bogies were developed, in accordance with the requirements for modern regional trains, for speeds of up to 200km/h and a maximum axle load of 18.5t. Regional trains consisting of several cars can be equipped completely with these bogies. Such orders have been received from Westrail Goninan and IIRR Iran. Bogies for electric and diesel-electric trainsSF 5000 E drive and non-driven bogies were developed for speeds up to 200km/h and a maximum axle load of 18.5t, in accordance with the requirements for modern regional trains. The modular design of this bogie family allows for:
Low-floor driven and non-driven bogies The SF 6500 bogie platform was developed for low-floor applications. It comprises driven and non-driven bogies. The service speed is 160km/h. These bogies are particularly used in express and commuter trains.
